Racing Profits Guide To Successful Backing of Horses
In this series of videos I take a detailed look at my approach and methodology behind backing of horses to win or place and how I have developed my strategy over the past 8 years to compete with the tightening margins offered by the bookmakers and the efficient market that the betting exchanges such as Betfair have brought about.
I used September 2011 as a good example, although an average month, it demonstrated exactly why you need to develop a very disciplined and patient approach to your backing but most importantly – you can no longer rely on simply backing to make up your entire betting strategy. You must develop a Betting Strategy which mixes in Laying and Trading to ensure you have a consistancy which backing alone can not give you.

In this video I run through the 2nd and 3rd weeks of September 2011, a typical period where the back bets do not land for a number of reasons and we have a run of placed efforts or poor performances from our selections. I also share my ideas on tracking horses through a season and the tool I use from www.gg.com to track horses.

Video 3 – The rewards of patience and discipline in the backing of horses
In the final part of this series of videos helping you to develop a successful backing strategy I analyse the final week of back selections in September 2011 and show exactly why patience is rewarded in backing. You must be disciplined and stick to your strategy – place you bets and then analyse things over a month, do not fall into the trap of looking at your results race by race or day by day. A successful strategy must reward you month on month and build your betting bank for you. I conclude this video with a more detailed look at my own betting strategy and how I made +137 pts profit in September 2011, even though only +52pts came from my back bets. Enjoy.
