Emilio,

I have put up the early prices now on my selections.

To clarify – sometimes when I look at the early prices on Betfair – the market has not formed properly, i.e not enough money has been traded to make the early price reliable. So it pays to take a price a little nearer to the race as your early price.

No – do not place a lay bet on the early price, just make a note of it for reference later. We only place our Lay bet in the last couple of minutes before the start of the race, so we can watch te price of our selection carefully – if the price shortens as money comes for our selection this is a strong indicator of market confidence and a likely strong run.

So we do not Lay the selection and in many cases if the price on our selection shortens by over 25% it is a profitable strategy to back the selection for 2 points to win.This comes with experience though – the safest approach at present is to simply listn to the warning that the market is giving us and not lay the horse.

Rich you say “I suggest you get an early price on Betfair for these lays at around 1:00pm” . What do you mean for “get an early price”? Must I Place a bet at 1:00 pm” or simply i must take a look at the prices ?

Hi Rich ,
I ‘ ve forgotten to ask you how do you define the stakes of your lays . I read you have split your 10000 £ bank in 200 points ( 50 £ each point) . What do you bet for example on a horse quoted 5 ? 50£ (with a 200 £ liability )or 12.5 £ (with a 50 £ liability) ?
