Free Horse Racing selections- Monday April 25th

Morning guys,

A fantastic day yesterday and you should have made around +40pts profit to the advised stakes and prices.

Quickly moving onto today and another busy one. I’ll outline my main bets then give you my shortlist for todays Irish Grand National.

Redcar:

4.20- residence and spa

An exposed maiden out of Tim Easterbys stable but looks to have strong claims of breaking his duck today back at Redcar, where he posted a TS of 74 over 7f last season, staying on strongly in the closing stages. A repeat of that performance will see him go close today under David Allen and Im going 2pts e/w at 7/2

5.30- wild hysteria

From Tom Tate and another exposed horse who should go close to getting off the mark today off a mark of 58. Ran at Redcar over 5f back in September and posted a promising TS of 61 which suggests he should be up to winning as a 3yo off this mark. Has a snug pitch in stall 3 and I can see him racing up with the pace and hopefully finishing off his race well to at least place. Im going 2pts e/w at 4/1.

Warwick:

4.10- Sylvestris/Logans Legend

Sylvestris holds the pick of form here and stands out on the clock. A run at Kempton will have brought her on and blown away any cobwebs. At  11/4 she screams out for an e/w smash and Im going 2pts e/w. Logans Legend should follow her home- Shaped with promise at the backend of last season at Kempton, staying on very well in the closing stages. Steps up in trip for her turf debut and Barry Hills tends to do very well with once raced 2yo’s on the first run as 3yo’s. Im going 1pt e/w at 13/2 with Sportingbet with equates to a maximum 3pt e/w bet on the race.

Ffos Las:

5.05- Junior Jack/Tenby Jewel

Another relatively short priced e/w dutch bet, but I have a good strike rate with such bets and when they work out well, it can be rather spectacular. Junior Jack had a nice education in bumpers and was given to me as one to follow in novice hurdles but hasn’t won yet. I reckon we can cross off his last run and he’ll certainly get 3 miles. Im going 2pts e/w at 7/2. Tenby Jewel is exposed but has a sound level of form, certainly good enough to go close here at Ffos Las where he has ran two solid races in defeat and posted decent speed figures. Im going 1pt e/w at 6/1.

Huntingdon:

2.15- The Strawberry One

A dual bumper winner on good ground who was unlucky to be badly hampered early on at Towcester last time out and did very to finish off her race so well. This looks a good opportunity to get off the mark for an in form yard and Im going 4pts to win at 2/1.

Fairyhouse:

2.35- Donnas Palm/Son Amix

A lot of money for Voler La Vedette this morning and she is a strong favourite at 15/8. However Ive always liked Donnas Palm and I think he can run her close today with conditions in his favour and a tongue tie and blinkers fitted for the first time. Im going 1pt e/w at 15/2. Son Amix is a lovely little horse with bags of speed but saw out 3 miles round Cheltenham last time too, posted a huge TS figure of 141 when 2nd behind Buena Vista. I backed Son Amix that day and strongly fancied him to win but you cant plan ahead for a Pipe trained winner with no form at all!! Son Amix’s form suggests he is better going left handed but I think he is a versatile horse and a strong pace today will do him good stepping back in trip. He could sneak a place in an open Grade 2 contest and Im going 1pt e/w at 14/1.

3.45- Prima Vista

This horse has a touch of class and I fancy him to run a big race today with a 6lb pull over Dare To Doubt. Is undoubtedly better going right handed and the ground will suit. Has an impressive turn of foot off a good gallop and Paul Carberry rides him very well. Im going 2pts e/w at 6/1. Raithlin is dangerous, however I just wonder why the trainer decided to go here rather than the Grade 1 Novice Hurdle at Punchestown considering he finished a solid 6th behind Al Ferof at Cheltenham. Perhaps he is looking for the easy option or perhaps the horse is over the top for the season  after a hard race. We’ll see.

IRISH GRAND NATIONAL- The Shortlist:

Shakervilz- 16/1

Caim Hill- 18/1

Some Target- 12/1

Sebadee- 50/1

Saddlers Storm- 18/1

I suppose 0.5pts e/w on each may not go amiss, but not necessarily advised. The two that look to have the most solid claims are Some Target and Caim Hill. Its a strong trends race and these fit the bill. Shakervilz only falls at one trend in that he hasn’t ran for a years, but Im including him on a hunch.

Have a fantastic day and you’ll hears from me again soon

Free Horse Racing Selections- Sunday April 24th

Good Morning people!!!

Well, yesterday was frustrating by way of consistency as is the case at this time of year. My two short price bets came 2nd and 3rd and there were several horses that should have been in the mix that didn’t show up. However, the 3.40 at Musselburgh produced my first real good dutch bet of the flat season with High Office winning nicely at 22/1 Adv and Beat The Rush following him home in 3rd for the e/w money at 10/1 Adv. Katla ran a stormer to be 2nd at 12/1 Adv for more e/w money and we cleared a healthy  +7.20pts. Onto today and another busy one, you’ll find this is my style of betting, slightly more flamboyant than our friend Richard and you’ll also find it can be very effective in the long term. There are many ways to skin a cat. Here we go.

Sandown:

3.50- Genius Beast

Ran 3rd in two hot maidens behind Frankel and Picture Editor last season before winning well on soft ground at Haydock from Purification, who has gone on to win first time up this season at Windsor the other evening. The form stacks up very well with no less than 14 winners coming out his all 3 of his runs. Impeccably bred and sure to improve for the step up in trip today, I think he rates a solid each way bet in an interesting race. Its vital that punters get value for money- Bet 365 and Skybet are offering ¼ odds in this race and are both offering 8/1 for Genius Beast, Im going 1.5pts e/w.

4.25- Always The Lady

A nice filly and a half sister to Class is Class who won over 1m2f. Shaped with considerable promise at Goodwood in her maiden, posting a solid speed figure and looks sure to be up in the mix today for the Clive Cox team, who are in good form and highly regard this filly. Does need experience and this will bring her along. Its a hot race, basically its an Oaks trial race but at 7/2 (1/4 odds) with Bet 365, she looks a very solid e/w bet and Im going 2pts e/w.

Fairyhouse:

1.50- Ross Na Righ

Sicilian Secret will be very hard to beat here with the drying ground expected to bring about the required improved to fulfil his potential and take his maiden after some frustrating runs through the winter. Its a hot race for the places but Ross Na Righ is consistant on the clock and should go well again. Id like to see Bryan Cooper being positive and racing well up with the pace and hopefully the horse will give the favourite something to think about. Im going 2pts e/w at 13/2 with VC.

2.20- Shop Dj/Definite Class

A seriously hot novice hurdle for mares. Shop DJ ran a stormer in the mares final at Newbury last time out and that’ll have given her sound experience in the jumping department. She was badly hampered early on and showed great determination to travel into the race late on. Is 3lb better off with Our Girl Salley  for a 3 length beating at Leopardstown earlier in the season and is entitled to run her close again, Im going 1.5pts e/w at 6/1 with VC. Definite Class is a big strong mare who will improve again for the step up in trip. Her saddle slipped in the back straight when well beaten last time by Golden Sunbird, but I expect her to run a lot closer that horse today with conditions to suit and Im going 1pt e/w at 18/1, again with Victor Chandler.

4.05- Realt Dubh

My old friend goes again and must have a massive chance of securing his 3rd grade 1 victory of the season. Didnt appear to handle Cheltenham as well as hoped but still ran a blinder and todays longer trip should see him perform to his best again. Noble Prince and Loosen My Load oppose today but I cant turn my back on a horse thats done so well for my pocket this season and Im going 2pts win at 4/1, a small win bet in a very hot race.

Towcester:

2.25- Mineapolis

A class horse on the flat who contested some very good races. Clocked a solid TS of 96 last time out at Fontwell and looks sure to go close today stepping back slightly in trip. The one worry is his record going right handed. I don’t think there will a whole lot of pace in this race and if it turns into a sprint there will only be one winner because he has by the best flat speed but its a speculative 3pt win bet at 2/1 for me.

4.30- Airdrie

A well bred gelding who was placed in a couple of point to points before heading to Henrietta’s. Has posted some decent speed figures and looks sure to improve for todays conditions with a tongue tie fitted for the first time. Its a very poor race Dancing Dude aside and I needed to find something to oppose him and Airdrie fitted the bill nicely for a 1.5pts e/w bet at 11/1 with Bet 365.

Cork:

2.10- Kalann

Stands out like a sore thumb in this company and must go close today after 3 promising runs in graded races. Will improve for todays good ground and Im going 5pts to win at 5/4 with Paddy Power.

2.40- Apalachicola

Only finished 2 lengths behind Shifa last time out who went on to win the other day and is a nice young mare in her own right. Its a poor maiden and the only danger appears to be Phoenix Rose but at 11/2, Apalachicola looks a standout bet for an e/w smash and Im going 2pts e/w at that price with VC.

Thats all for today,

Good Luck and God Bless

Kev

Free selections- Saturday 23rd April.

Morning guys,

I was planning on just advising one or two of the strongest looking bets per day. But its the weekend and there are several good opportunities for smaller value bets and I’ll outline those I feel are strong bets as well. Im off to Sandown for Bet 365 Gold Cup day so havent had a great deal of time to give as much insight on the selections as Id like to but rest assured, plenty time has gone into them this morning.

Haydock:

2.20- Royal Max/Cosby Jemma

Royal Max is a nice sort and it took time for the penny to drop but he done it well at Wetherby back in October, posting a fast enough time to suggest he can follow up with conditions to suit after a break. Trainer Ian Williams places his horses very well and its interesting  that he hasn’t ran Royal Max over the winter in order to keep him in the right frame of mind for when the ground is in his favour. Im going 1pt e/w at 13/2 with Bet 365.

Cosby Jemma is a victim of her own consistency in a way but is a nice little mare who should run a nice race today off a low weight, which will suit her better than carrying bigger weights as she isn’t the biggest. Has posted consistant speed figures which suggest she is up to this class and is on a winnable mark. Jockey Graham Lee on board is always a bonus and Im going 1pt e/w at 12/1.

Kelso:

6.15- Fortuni

A standout bet here and it’ll be surprising if this son of Montjeu cant take his maiden hurdle in very poor company. His speed figures suggest he is well above the opposition today and he won a charity race in good style latest. Im going 5pts to win at 13/8 with Corals.

Musselburgh:

3.40- Beat The Rush/High Office

Beat The Rush is a likeable middle distance performer who goes well fresh and this looks a good starting point for his season off a decent mark off 85. Theres every reason to think he should improve for stepping up in trip and at 10/1, he looks a nice e/w bet at 10/1, Im going 1pt each way.

High Office hails from the in form Richard Fahey yard and is a big price at 22/1 with Betfred and Stan James to run a big race under top claimer Lee Topliss. Has came 1st and 3rd on his last two reappearances so clearly goes well fresh. Has looked a tad outpaced over 1m2f and should improve for this stiffer test of stamina, again Im going 1pt each way.

Sandown :

1.30- Clerks Choice

A formidable horse with conditions to suit, a point he proved when hacking up on good ground at Cheltenham in classy company back in October. Sanctuaire won the Scottish Champion Hurdle well last time out but is better in a bigger field and is definitely vunerable today.  Money has started to come for Clerks Choice so grab the 11/10 available with Betfred and Hills and Im going 4pts to win.

2.05- Tobago Bay/Dantari

Dantari has ran with credit this year in big handicaps and is a tad exposed. However, he has placed 2 out of 3 times at Sandown and this slight step back in trip could just see him finish his race a little stronger. Im going 1pt e/w at 10/1. Tobago Bay is a solid performer at his best and his penultimate run at Newbury puts him bang there with a big chance today and at 18/1, I cant resist a 1pt e/w bet. Had subsequent Aintree Grade 1 winner Saint Are well held in 3rd that day and good claimer Joseph Akehurst takes off 10lbs.

3.20- Gentle Ranger/Cant Buy Time

An open race and not the strongest of renewals. These two appeal as ones to run big races with conditions in their favour  and Im going 1pt e/w on each at 12/1 and 16/1 respectively.

3.45- Music Show

Dick Turpin will be a very tough nut to crack here, but Music Show is a high class Group 1 performer who should improve as a 4yo. Cityscape is reported to be in need of a run and would much prefer softer ground, for that reason he is one for later in the season and probably best watched. Dream Eater could run a big race and its interesting that he has a pacemaker, but needs to improve. Im going 2pts e/w at Music Show at 9/2.

4.20- Shamali

An imposing son of Selkirk who impressed me last time at Kempton when recapturing his old form to score in good style. Always improves for a run and could just be up to this level and turn a few heads if in the same mood. Im going 1pt e/w at 8/1 with Stan James.

Cork:

3.35- Katla

Katla is an unexposed 3yo who takes on her elders for the first time today but I think she is up to the task. Didnt get home over 7f last time and that will have brought her on no end. Inxile is the one to beat but Katla could give him something to think about if she reproduces the form that seen her beat Nell Gwyn winner Barefoot Lady by 6 lengths at York last October. The ground should be in her favour too. Im going 2pts e/w at 12/1 with Bet 365.

Good Luck.

Irish Flat Racing – Group Horses To Follow in 2011

irish flat racing horses

Irish Flat Racing 2011 – Group Horses to Follow

This is the first instalment of a three part Irish Flat Racing feature for the 2011 Flat season for Racing Profits followers and punters alike. Here, I will outline some very classy individuals I consider to be set for Group race glory this season. All are trained in Ireland but of course, many will have planned engagements at both sides of the Irish Sea.

HEAD SPACE – Jim Bolger – 3yo Colt

This son of Invincible Spirit really caught the eye when winning his maiden at the first time of asking last April. Tracking the leaders in mid division he travelled supremely well and showed a tremendous burst of speed to put the race to bed from over one furlong out, winning by 5 lengths over the minimum trip. It was a visually impressive performance and one that hasirish flat racing horses been backed up by the three horses directly behind him who’ve all gone on to win races since, the best of them being the very smart Lightening Thief. Unfortunately, Head Space has been off the track since with a set back and has been given all the time he needs to come to hand by his shrewd handler Jim Bolger, one of Irish Flat Racing’s best, who undoubtedly knows when he has a good horse on his hands and make no mistake, this is a very good horse. Hold entries in both of the 2000 Guineas but is reported to be a bit behind schedule in terms of a trip to Newmarket, where he is quoted as a 50/1 shot. He could be one for the Irish 2000 Guineas but this horse has so much speed I can see him really making his presence felt over shorter trips in time. Will be placed to good effect by his handler and is definitely one to keep on side when he makes his return to action.

PATHFORK – Jessica Harrington – 3yo Colt

A highly imposing unbeaten 2yo last season from the Jessica Harrington team, an American bred horse who won a 14 runner maiden at the Curragh in mid July last year, comfortably thrashing the well touted 8/11 favourite Robin Hood from Aiden O’Brien’s yard by 4 lengths. He then progressed to take the Group 2 Futurity Stakes at the Curragh where he had the likes of Glor Na Mara, Samuel Morse and High Ruler outclassed in behind, all good prospects for this season in their own right. It was his run in the Group 1 Vincent O’Brien National Stakes, again at the Curragh racecourse, which cemented his superiority over the 2010 crop of Irish 2 year olds in September. That day he settled well in third place and hit the front a furlong out and stayed on really well to hold off Casamento, who went on the take the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster in October and has since joined the powerful Godolphin team for his 3yo campaign and is a high class prospect as well. Group 1 winner Zoffany was a well held 5 lengths behind those two that day and the form stacks up very well. I have chatted to one of the jockeys from Harrington’s jumping team about this colt and the one thing he said was that he only likes to do enough in front and the feeling from the yard is they still don’t know how good he is as he always keeps a bit up his sleeve, both at home on the gallops and on the track. To my mind he is was the best of the Irish 2yo crop and that is reflected both in the form book and in the English Guineas market, where he is clear 2nd favourite behind Frankel at 7/1. He looks set for a huge year in Group 1 company and reports from the yard suggest he has wintered very well and he heads straight to Newmarket.

RODERIC O’CONNOR – A P O’Brien – 3yo Colt

It is looking as though this immaculately bred son of Galileo is the chief 3yo from the powerful Irish Flat Racing Ballydoyle establishment and it would be criminal not to mention him here as he is a very likeable colt that has a very progressive profile. From looking very green on his debut when finished 3rd behind the classy Dunboyne Express and Master of Hounds in early June, he stepped up no end to thrash Master of Hounds by 2.5 lengths at the Curragh at odds of 12/1 under Seamie Heffernan. He looked smart then and was taken straight to Newmarket for the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes, where he was given little chance at 25/1 by the layers in what was considered to be the hottest 2yo race for years with Frankel, Dream Ahead and Saamid locking horns. irish flat racingDream Ahead clearly hadn’t got over his emphatic Group 1 victory two weeks previously and his effort petered out tamely, as did Saamid’s who also had excuses as the ground was on the soft side. All the same, this was a high class race and Roderic O’Connor led from the start at a good gallop and was just done for toe in the closing stages by Frankel who won by just over 2 lengths. In late Autumn he took his chance in the Group 1 Criterium International at Saint Cloud and went off a warm 5/2 favourite in a hot looking race. He took the race comfortably to establish himself as a serious prospect for Classic honours this season. He is 3rd favourite for the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and having been tipped up by Pricewise in the Racing Post, must go there with a big chance of fighting out the finish. Is entitled to improve no end this season and could be even better again next season. Is a well balanced colt who will act on most types of ground and has plenty of options open to him whatever happens at headquarters on April 30th.

LAUGHING LASHES – Jessica Harrington –  3yo Filly

Another horse I must mention from the yard of the first lady of Irish Flat Racing Jessica Harrington, who has some potent looking ammunition to go to war with this season. Laughing Lashes is a very attractive daughter of Mr Greeley who was very consistent last season, coming 2nd in very good company three times and winning the Group 2 Keenland Debutante stakes at the Curragh in between. That day, with a bit of ease in ground, she beat her arch rival Misty For Me comfortably, with the 6/4 favourite Together a well beaten 3rd. Misty For Me just edged her in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud on her next start on ground that was probably a little too firm. Word from the yard is that they believe this filly is at least as good as Misty For Me when she has her conditions and is strongly fancied to run huge races in Classic company this season. I backed this filly at 25/1 each way for the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket last year after Id spoke to my pal at the stable and she is now as low as 12/1, with Misty For Me a 7/1 chance. There is no reason she cant run a huge race on good ground, but with any ease in the ground she’ll be strongly fancied to win the race and at 14/1, she rates good each way bet regardless. She’ll undoubtedly make her presence felt at top level this season, has plenty of options until late in the year and for that reason, she is my 3yo filly to follow.

INVINCIBLE ASH – Michael Halford – 6yo Mare

Invincible Spirit is fast becoming one of my favourite sires as his offspring are very fast, very versatile and extremely tough racehorses. Invincible Ash has been a model of consistency irish flat racingwinning two Listed events last season and taking home plenty of prize money for her owners in defeat. She is just back from Dubai, where Michael Halford placed her well to run in 5 races without victory and not once did she look out of place or run a poor race. On World Cup night at Meydan, she finished a close 4th behind arguably the best sprinter on the planet JJ The Jet Plane in the Al Quoz Sprint, only beaten half a length. This mare thrives on racing and has slowly but surely risen up the ratings. Now rated 111, she’ll be running in all the top sprint races this summer and I won’t hear of her not getting her head in front in a good race at decent odds. Is having a little break at the moment but will be back in full work very soon and I look forward to following her this season.

FAME AND GLORY – A P O’Brien – 5yo Colt

An outstanding middle distance performer and its difficult to envision the horse having anything but another exciting season. He has won three Group 1s and four other Group races and is just the type to excel and perhaps improve again as a 5 year old. Is likely to start off in one or two small races in Ireland and start at prohibitive odds, but it is when he begins his travels to England and France that we need to pay him particular attention. Has all sorts of races open to him in including the Group 1 Coronation Cup at Epsom, where last year he made top class filly and multiple Group 1 winner Sariska look completely out of place in the closing stages. Fame And Glory went on to win a small Group 2 at the Curragh after that, beating his regular work partner Dixie Music in the style that poor horse has become accustomed to at home on the gallops. Next was the Qatar Prix De L’ Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp where he went off a well fancied 9/2 shot but never had a clear run and was badly hampered over 2 furlong out. It was a muddling race and he would certainly have finished closer to Workforce and may have won with a clearer run. There has been talk of Fame And Glory being trained for the Royal Ascot Gold Cup and that might not be a bad idea at all as he has both stamina and class in abundance, all the attributes required to win such a race. Whatever path he takes, he is a horse to follow at home and abroad and to my mind, is a major player for the Arc again in October.

ZERASHAN  – Michael Halford – 4yo Colt

irish flat racingAnother potential dark horse to follow here from the ever expanding Irish Flat Racing stable of Michael Halford  based in county Kildare.  This horse has just been bought by Gigginstown House Stud from the Aga Khan for a sizeable sum of money to go jumping later in the year. I find it interesting that Micheal Halford pressed his new owners to let him partake in another flat campaign before he starts over hurdles. He is a good looking son of Azamour who will certainly improve with age as did his sire. Barring his final run last season where he was clearly over the top, he enjoyed a respectable first season, his best run when chasing home the top class prospect Await The Dawn at Cork. Zerashan is likely to stay 1m4f and will have plenty of opportunities to take a Group race along the way and could pop up at a decent price.

Irish Flat Racing 7 To Follow

So, there we have 7 horses I think will be worth following for Group race honours this Irish Flat Racing season. A good mix of talent I think you’ll agree, with some well known names as well as a couple of dark horses. There are any number of talented horses who I may not have mentioned, but make no mistake about it, I fancy these 6 to be profitable to follow and I plan on giving regular updates of their progress as the season goes on.

Next Article – Irish Flat Racing Handicappers To Follow In 2011

In my second instalment, I will be focusing on Irish Flat Racing Handicappers, with varying levels of class, who I feel should win races this season and be profitable to follow. The last instalment of this completely free Irish Flat Racing article, exclusive to Racing Profits.net, will focus on a batch of unraced Irish trained 2 year old horses who will be making an impact on the Irish Flat Racing scene this Summer and Autumn.

Irish Racing Selections- Thursday 30th December

Hi guys just a few bets today,

Leopardstown:

12.30 – Joe Smooth 1pt e/w 14/1 Bet 365

Good moving horse from Noel Meade’s yard. He has cost connections a fair bit on his last two runs as he was fancied strongly to win both bumpers. He works like a good horse at home and has looked good in his schooling aswell. They do feel that jumping hurdles with act as a catalyst to better things now. He could just be the one to chase home the favourite.

2.00- Realt Dubh 2pts e/w 8/1 generally

Our old friend is out again and is a nice price. They were disapointed that he could finish his race off over 2m4f LTO, after travelling smoothly throughout. But the weather has been holding up everything at the stable and he may have been short a bit of work. But the drop in trip and return to a track he has won at is expected to bring about a return to the winners enclosure for this very promising chaser. Should take all the beating in a hot race.

3.05- Silcilian Secret 3pts e/w 5/1

Nice horse from Willie Mullins yard. I heard from a contact to follow this horse this season and not lose faith. Highly regarded in his early career he lost his way somewhat but made a pleasing hurdles debut. He has came on a bundle for that and looks set for a huge run. Shot From The Hip is a horse Ive always liked and he landed a big gamble for us last season when trotting up in a bumper round here. But he is a short price today and Sicilian Secret wouldnt be far behind at all, in terms of both ability and form.

Limerick:

12.50- Sheer Genius 1.5pt win @ 10/1 Bet 365

A poor maiden but John Murphy’s gelding looks a potential improver. Stayed on nicely in a decent race LTO and could take this if he can race more prominantly. Its a speculative bet at a decent price.

Down Royal:

12.40- yes tom 3pts e/w 4/1 Bet 365

Appears to be a very solid bet here so max e/w again. Clocked a fast time LTO at Aintree and if he reproduces that ruun, he’ll win.

1.40- Monastrell 2pts e/w 7/2 Bet 365

Interesting recruit to fences. My friend at stable has told me he shows all the ability you could want from a race horse but has his own ideas about the game. However, he is schooling well and is expected to improve a good deal for his new career over fences. Their thoery is the fences will settle his mind and he’ll have to concetrate more. The favourite is a nice horse, but has generally been vunerable to an improver throughout his career and this one fits the bill for a nice e/w investment at 7/2.

Good Luck today whatever you choose to back.

Kev.

Irish Racing Selections- Saturday 18th of December

Hi guys, a few at Navan today.

12.45- Marlay Park 2pts e/w @ 4/1 with Corals

Should have won his maiden last year. This is a hot little contest but he represents a good value bet to go close.

1.15- Oscars Well 1pt e/w 8/1 Bet365

Has improved a great deal for going over hurdles. Goes against two good horses today but looks capable of  fighting out the finish with them given a normal ammount of improvement.

1.50- Son Amix 3pts e/w 4/1, Clan Tara 1pt e/w 14/1

Son Amix will be hard to beat here so Im going a max e/w bet. Clan Tara is a grand servant who has won at the course and has never been out of the frame over hurdles, I take him also to run a big race for the Paul Nolan stable.

Irish Racing Selections- Wednesday 15th of December

Good evening all,

Well a nice 14pts profit on Sunday and thats the kind of day I think we’ll be seeing more of now the good horses in Ireland are starting to show their faces and the form is “settling” after that limbo period after the flat. The weather hasnt help either, to be fair.

Fairyhouse:

12.20- Perfect Smile 2pts to win @ 9/2 Generally, get BOG.

Very nice individual from Noel Meades stable. I know they think the world of this horse and expect him to be fighting out the top novice hurdles this season. He won very nicely first time up, has a very nice cruising speed and could just be a touch of value to beat the very promising Zaidpour, a full brother to Zaynar who Nicky Hendorson left behind when he went to buy a couple from the Aha Khan, bet hes gutted now. Another one to note is The Shepard King, who has shown considerable promise so far and there are a few chinese whispers for him too. But I think Perfect Smile has a good engine for a young horse and could just take it to them.

12.50- Hurrricane Fly 2pts e/w @ 3/1 with Paddy Power, Summit Meeting 0.5pts e/w  20/1 VC bet

Terrifyingly good on his day this horse. He is the right age to come into the Champion Hurdle fray after repeatedly getting injured. But reports from the yard suggest he has matured a great deal and will be ready for this rematch with Solwhit, who despite losing out to Hurricane at Punchestown, has the benefit of a run this season. My selection is lightly raced though and wouldnt take much racing, for that reason he’ll only be tuned up for 3 races, 4 max and he’ll be fit enough to win them all if he’s good enough. He just might be.  Summit Meeting should also be backed at 20/1 to reach the frame. Jessica Harrington holds this horse in high regard and Id expect him to put up a better show than what he did for us last time!

1.55- J’Vole 2pts e/w 11/2 with Skybet and Totesport

This cracking mare might well have won the Ryanair but for being bullied by Poquelin coming off the home turn, that horse won the big Handicap at Cheltenham on Saturday and she finished a nose behind him last March. But she stayed on resolutely and very much caught my eye, simply because she hadnt shown me that level of form and versatility conditions wise before. At Punchestown she was travelling away nicely before making a bad mistake and unseating, that run is easily crossed out as her jumping is super usually. Id expect her to find any chinks in the boys armour tomorrow, and she gets a few pounds off them aswell, which always helps. Tranquil Sea must be the main danger.

2.30- Realt Dubh 2pts e/w 11/2 Tote and Hills

Im licking my lips for this race with the return of Mikael D’Haguenet along with Realt Dunbh,Jessies Dream and Head of The Posse- four very highly regarded horse. But with the likely favourite having been off the track, im going to keep with Noel Meades charge, who looks set for much higher things after an impressive win last time out. As Ive said before, Meade expects this horse to be his best Novice chaser this season so thats good enough for me to have him on my side, particularly when he represents value in the betting market.

3.00- Zaarito 1pt e/w 8/1 Paddy Power,Kempes 1pt e/w 14/1 with the Tote

Nice dutch bet here. Zaarito has so much promise but hes been plagued by hard luck stories and an inability to respect everything he jumps. But his potential remains boundless and im a firm believer that intensive schooling and patience will prevail for a class horse in the end. If that happens tomorrow he’ll make 8/1 look big. Kempes was arguably Irelands best Novice last season, capping off the season with a 4 length victory over China Rock. That horse has gone on to run close behind Sizing Europe and Kauto Star last time out and looks a staying chaser with a big future. Kempes must be a big price at 14/1. He is versatile trip wise, will go well enough on the ground and is hardly ever out of the first two. While he appears to be Mullin’s second string, Id still expect a big run from him.

Irish Racing Selections- Monday 13th of December

Morning chaps and lasses,

Disapointing runs from both selections yesterday. An Drummer Liath some ringing bells with an alarming market drift out to 9/1. Askanna was most disapointing though, shes not as progressive as Id first thought and she lacked the size to cope with those horse yesterday. Anyway a few bets for today.

Cork:

12.15- Foildubh 2pts e/w 7/1 Bet365

Again another typical maiden bet. This horse finished 10 lengths in front of the favourite on his penultimate run before going onto finish a sound 4th in a good maiden in which Shot from The Hip was 2nd. The favourite is expected to improve for the drop in trip, but improve 10 lengths on the same terms with my selection? Im not sure, and 7/1 currently available stands out as the value here.

12.45- Golden Sunbird 2pts e/w 4/1 with a few firms

Solid level of form last season and unlucky not to have lost her maiden tag. But shes a tough mare and has conditions to suit here today dropping back to 2 miles. Id expect her to have improved over the summer and she won a bumper of the course and distance. With 8 runners set to run she looks good each way value.

1.15- Sicilian Secret 3pts to win 2/1 bet 365

Very promising bumper horse who disapointed many on his two hurdle runs. The yard have reported that he is very fit and a new horse at home and by all accounts I think it will pay to keep the faith today as hes always been well regarded. Its not a strong maiden and I think Sicilian Secret will take alot of beating today under Paul Townend

Cheers and good luck today

Kev

Irish Racing Selections- Sunday 12th of December

Good morning guys,

Its been a frustrating few weks battling against the elements but todays card at Cork goes ahead and I have two interesting bets.

Cork:

12.50- Askanna 2pts e/w @ 9/4 with Sportingbet

This mare from the up and coming Colin Bowe yard has improved and progressed well this year, showing a touch of class and the ability to battle right to the line. Her win last time out when beating a couple of decent geldings over 2m6f at Punchestown was a very good performance and I feel there should be more to come from her over 3 miles today. Araucaria is well regarded and very well bred, but hasnt impressive me with her attitude for jumping just yet. There is every chance she can improve on her last run at least, for the step up in trip, but Im thinking she could fall short if it comes to a battle with my selection.

1.50- An Drummer Liath 2pts e/w 13/2 William Hill

Typical maiden hurdle bet this one. The race lacks much strength in depth, the only one that could be half decent is House rules from De Bromheads yard, but he didnt beat much in his bumper win and I always take on the bumper form with hurdle form. An Drummer Liath went off a 25/1 in a pretty good maiden thatll throw up a few winners once the meetings are back. He clocked a solid TS figure of 90 and is entitled to improve. His trainer has a good record at Cork and his promising 7lb claimer Pat Mangan takes the ride. Almost certainly represents the value in the race.

Have a great Sunday,

Kev
