Racing At Royal Ascot - Day 2

Racing At Royal Ascot – Day 2 – Race Trends, Stats, Tips & Lays

Well a fabulous start to Royal Ascot for all of my Racing Profits Email Service subscribers with The Wow Signal winning the Coventry – putRacing At Royal Ascot - Day 2 up at 13/2 and Kingman winning the St Jame’s Palace in fine style, as expected. We also had Patrick Weaver’s “Lay of the Day” and he had put up Hot Streak as his horse to take on and despite being punted off the boards it was a great pick and duly obliged us.

Here are the trends and race statistics for the second day of Royal Ascot, always a challenging day with some big fields, so make sure you narrow down the field:

2:30 – Jersey Stakes – Group 3 – 7f – 3yo only

A really tricky opener for Day 2 with 23 runners and no strong trends for this race as far as jockeys go and trainers, although Jeremy Noseda has won the race twice. The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 9/1. Not a great betting proposition and one to watch for me.

12/12 – Finished 1st or 2nd last time out

Course Notes: Held on the straight course.
Here are the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes race trends and stats:

Patrick’s Lay Of The Day For Day 2

Each day Patrick Weaver, Racing Editor from the Daily Express, will put up a daily lay for you. Here is Patrick’s Lay today:

2.30 – Mustajeeb

Patrick Says: “was placed in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, is likely to start shorter than he is entitled to simply because he was third to Kingman who won on the opening day. MUWAARY and BIG TIME are his equal and there are others who could improve past him.”

RECOMMENDED LAY: Mustajeeb

Royal Ascot Tips & Trends

Day 1 – Royal Ascot Tips, Lays & Race Trends

As promised, each day of Royal Ascot this year I will be posting the race trends and statistics for each of Royal Ascot Tips & Trendsthe major group races. Use these race trends to narrow down the field in the big races and come up with your shortlist for each race.

Here are the trends for the four big races for today, the opening day of Royal Ascot:

2:30 – Queen Anne Stakes – Group 1 – 1m – for older horses 4yo+

Course Notes: On the straight mile.

Here are the top race trends and statistics from the past 12 years.
12/12 – Had between 1 and 2 previous runs that season
10/12 – Returned 13/2 or shorter in the betting
10/12 – Previous winners over 1 mile
9/12 – Had already won a Group 1 race
9/12 – Had never run at Ascot before
9/12 – Won by a 4 year-old
8/12 – Returned 5/1 or shorter in the betting
8/12 – Trained by either R Hannon (2), A P O’Brien (3) or Godolphin (3)
7/12 – Favourites that were unplaced
6/12 – Ran in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury last time out
5/12 – Won their previous race

Race Notes

The two jockeys to follow in the Queen Anne are Richard Hughes and Frankie Dettori who have 5 wins from the past 12 renewals. It is not a favourites race with only 2 out of the past 12 races won by the favourite. The average winning SP in the last 10 runnings is 9/2

3:05 – Coventry Stakes – Group 2 – 6f – for 2yo’s

Here are the Coventry Stakes statistics for the past 12 years.

12/12 – Won their previous race
12/12 – Had never raced at Ascot before
11/12 – Returned 8/1 or shorter in the betting
10/12 – Came from the top three in the betting
10/12 – Had at between 1 and 2 previous career runs
8/12 – Foaled in either Feb or March
7/12 – Winning favourites (2 joint)
7/12 – Won over 6f before
5/12 – Ran at either Newbury or Newmarket last time out
Race Notes

As a sprint for 2yo’s the Coventry is surprisingly easy to narrow down the field. Look closely at the horses trained by Aidan O’Brien and Richard Hannon , as the have trained 50% of the winners over the past 12 years. Top jockey in the race over recent years has been Richard Hughes with 3 wins. The average winning SP in the last 10 runnings is 11/2.

3:45 – King’s Stand Stakes – Group 1 – 5f – for 3yo+

The big 5f sprint of the day, here are the King’s Stand Stakes trends and statistics:
12/12 – Aged 7 or younger
10/12 – Had won over 5f before
10/12 – Had won a Group race before
9/12 – Finished first or second last time out
9/12 – Returned 7/1 or bigger in the betting
8/12 – Returned 8/1 or shorter in the betting
8/12 – Won by a non-UK trained horse
7/12 – Favourites placed
6/12 – Ran at either Flemington (3) or Chantilly (3) last time out

Race Notes

A big race for foreign horses, particularly Australian and French trained, with 5 wins over the past 12 years. A key stat is that course experience is also key with three previous Ascot winners going on to win the King’s Stand. Only 2 favourites have won in the past 12 years. The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 8/1

4:25 – St James’s Palace Stakes – Group 1 – 1m – 3y+

Course Notes: Held on the round course as opposed to the Queen Anne which was on the straight course.
Here are the St James’s Palace Stakes race trends and stats:
12/12 – Returned 9/1 or shorter in the betting
11/12 – Previous Group 1 or 2 winners
10/12 – Had either 2 or 3 previous runs that season
10/12 – Favourites that were placed
9/12 – Had won over a mile before
9/12 – Previous Group 1 winners
8/12 – Winning favourites (1 joint)
8/12 – Returned 11/4 or shorter in the betting
7/12 – Won their previous race
7/12 – Ran in the Irish 2000 Guineas (Curragh) last time out (5 won it)
5/12 – Had run at Ascot before

Race Notes

Another race targeted by Aidan O’Brien who has won 4 of the last 12 races. Again course form is key in this race with 5 winners having run at Ascot previously. The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 3/1.

Patrick’s Lay Of The Day For Day 1

Each day Patrick Weaver, Racing Editor from the Daily Express, will put up a daily lay for you. Here is Patrick’s Lay today:

3:45 Ascot – Hot Streak

Patrick says “One favourite I will happily oppose is Hot Streak in the King’s Stand Stakes (3.45). It is a tall order for a three-year-old to win this race – only one has in the last 10 years and he was trained in Spain. There are several more experienced types in the line-up and I see the winner coming from Shea Shae, Sole Power, Ahtoug or Ancil. It was only in the final strides that Shea Shea was caught by Sole Power 12 months ago. Pearl Secret and Jack Dexter – the third and fourth last year – are also in today’s race and their combined Group One experience will count for a lot when Hot Streak comes with his run.”

RECOMMENDATION: LAY HOT STREAK

Get My 3 Selections For Tomorrow

My Selection’s for the first day of Ascot are available to everyone who is a subscriber on the Racing Profits Email Selection Service and I definitely agree with Patrick as one of my selections goes in the King’s Stand.

6 Days Left to Grab the 50% Discount On The 6 Weeks Trading Training
