28th February 2011 – Another Winner and finish the month on +62 pts profit on the back bets alone !!

Well we started the day on +48 pt profis for February on the back bets but finished it on +62 pts profit.
Only two selections today:

2:20 Plumpton – Koup De Kanon – was yet to reproduce the promise he showed on his bumper debut at Uttoxeter back in October where he finished 2nd – today looked the perfect opportunity to make amends for a couple of poor hurdles runs but although he was well backed in from 3/1 down to 2/1 favourite showing market confidence he never ran his race and he finished a tailed off – not the start we wanted advised as a 3 pts each way bet we lost 6 pts.

3:40 Catterick  – Shadows Lengthen one of Mick Easterby’s most consistent performers on the all weather and particularly at my local course Southwell, where he has made me some nice profits over the past few years. He has now been sent over hurdles and made a lovely debut here at Catterick back in January when looking all over the winner on the run in, until he flattened the last fence and handed the win to Danceintothelight by a head, he was next out at the start of this month up at Newcastle where the testing conditions really took their toll and while he was up with the leaders  he could find nothing on the run to the line. I spoke to the yard over the weekend as he was due to run again at Newcastle on Saturday, however he was withdrawn due to the heavy ground and entered in this race today where conditions are far more likely to suit and at a course the yard know he will perform at.
The market totally got this one wrong and went after the top two, A Bridge Too Far and Total Submission –  forcing Shadows Lengthen to drift out to a mouth watering 11/2. Again I had advised this as a 3pts each way bet and it came in big style, winning by 8 lengths and giving us just over +20 pts profit.
So another good month after the 45 pts profit on the back bets in January.
Now on to one of my favourite betting months of the year – March and the Cheltenham festival !!
