I’ve just got home from Doncaster, bit of a grey day weatherwise but not too bad on the selections even though we did not get any return from our back bets again. I watched the 3:10 and have got to say that from the stands I really thought we were going to cash in big time on the outside of the two back bets Ascendant which I got the best odds of 16.0 on Betfair this afternoon. He ran so well but you could see the ground taking it’s toll on him and he faded away. I was watching the odds on Betfair on my Blackberry and they tumbled to 4.3 – so hopefully some of you greened up and got your stake back. He is a horse to take note of though when the weather improves and the going is firmer. His flat credentials will really tell then and he should be at a decent price too.
No excuses for Rushwee though – he just under performed, fading to 6th place. So a loss of 6 pts on the back bets , or 4 pts if you traded off on Ascendant in running.
Another successful day on the lays which are really strong at the moment, we are running at 95% success. As you will have noticed I am not putting up as many A/W lays, as our strike rate on National Hunt is so much stronger. I only layed No Wonga and decided not to lay Maori Legend due to the money which came for it late on, it dropped from 6.2 down to a low of 4.9 and then up to around 5.2 at the off. So made a 2 pt profit on the lays.
So today gave us a small loss of -4pts (or -2pts if you got your stake back on Ascendant).
These are the days that really show you how a Betting Pro thinks, patience and discipline are so important on days like today.
Do not start trying to chase your losses with “gambles” – just let this quiet spell pass until the next few winners who are on their way. You will have days and weeks like this – which is why you manage your money and set up your bank as you do – to minimise the impact on your bank and maximise those big win bets when they come.
Just keep in mind days like those in the first week when we made 200+ pts in a day, you have already made your profit for the month in one week. Now you see the other side of the coin where you need to bide your time and be patient.
Talk in the morning,
