Another day where our back bets failed to fire to any extent and another day which demonstrates the value of having a mixed strategy of backing and laying to protect your bank levels +3.5pt profit today.
3:20 Taunton – Lost Glory – As we know Jonjo Oneill has been in real form especially with our old friend Open Day who has done the business twice for us over the past two weeks. My stable contact had been very positive about the chances of Lost Glory today but he clearly never got into the race at all. A loss of 2 pts.
3:30 Southwell – Call At Midnight – had 7lbs on the winner in the weights and I really fancied him to do the business today for us. Up in contention for the majority of the race but never quickened when needed. A 3rd place gives us a small 0.5pt loss on the bet.
Again the Lay Selections were great with 5 out of 5 successful lays – not one even placed which is what I like to see and a nice +6pts profit on the day.
I hope everyone is grasping how important the lays are to our overall betting strategy. Yes it is nice when we have the big winners from the back bets but it is as equally important that our stakes are made back with the Lay selections. Small profits all add up and help protect your bank from any major hits. Keep building that bank slowly.
